I am glad to see that Dr. Groves came back from retirement. I had him for 3 classes at LSU. He is the best teacher I ever had. One quote for Dr. Groves; a student in Dr. Groves' class asked if his grading scale was carved in stone. Dr. Groves replied in his typical unassuming voice "Not in stone but in ultradense concrete". I always enjoyed his classes. Thanks Dr. Groves.

Samuel C. Kahn

I am Samuel C. Kahn, graduated with BS in ChE in May '43. As a senior, because I had spent my freshman year in another university, I was only a junior in the Ordnance Corp ROTC unit. When we graduated, the ROTC seniors went to OCS and all the rest of us were shipped to Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. We went into Basic Training just like a draftee! Eventually to OCS, though. After the war, I went to work for DuPont and over the next 40 years worked in 8 locations (counting Wilmington Headquarters 3 times). During the later years I became interested in computers and eventually became a DuPont Fellow in Information Systems. After I retired in '86 I was a consultant on Information systems for several years. Then I became a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and have worked with this great organization for the last 16 years and am still doing so.

In 1945 I was very fortunate that Eileen Desmond (LSU Dietetics '44) and I were married in Hammond. Over the next wonderful 58 years we raised 6 children. In 2002 Eileen died of pancreatic cancer.

My husband, Jean-Paul Robert, and I will have our eight year anniversary in June. We have two children, a 2.5 year old boy, Jean-Paul, Jr., and a 1 year girl Samantha Grace. Jean-Paul, Sr. graduated from LSU Law School in 2001, and he has his own law practice in downtown Baton Rouge. Last year we bought his Grandparents farmhouse in Gonzales, LA. I recently resigned at Tembec to work part-time as a Technical Writer with A+ Corporation to spend more time with my family. Work is only six miles from home.
