To obtain a BS degree in ChE you must take every course listed in the ChE curriculum in the Department section of the catalog. To graduate, you must have a A "C" average in all college work attempted at any U.S. institution, in all work attempted at LSU, and in all your ChE courses.

The flowchart form is especially useful for planning the sequence of courses you intend to take while at LSU. This is particularly true if you are working part-time or are planning a co-op position. We recommend that you maintain your own working copy of the flowchart, and use it to plan your sequence of courses and help in making changes to your plans along the way.

The following provides additional information about specific course requirements, in the approximate order that courses are taken. We also present information about several of the more important procedural rules.

Core Courses

There are 14 required core ChE courses in the curriculum. These include 12 lecture courses and 2 laboratories. A grade of "D" or above in a given course will satisfy the pre-requisite requirement for subsequent courses. However, a cumulative average of "C" or better in all core and elective ChE courses is required for graduation. When planning your long term schedule, note that the upper division lecture courses are generally offered only one semester during the year.
