To apply, you should complete the online application form and submit
the $25 application fee through the LSU
Graduate School. Once you have submitted the application and
fee, supporting documents should be submitted as follows:
- Send one official transcript from EACH college or university
attended directly to the LSU Graduate School (including summer
only work, and even if work appears on another institution’s
transcript). International applicants should include degree statements
and an English translation of each foreign document.
- Request ETS to submit official GRE and TOEFL (international
applicants only) scores directly to the LSU Graduate School. The
institution code is 6373. The department code is not required.
- Submit the following directly to our department: personal statement,
resume, at least 3 letters of recommendation (basic business letter
format—we do not require a form), copies of test score reports
for GRE and TOEFL, and any other materials concerning your field
of study.
- If you would like to be considered for financial aid, be sure
to answer the appropriate question on the Graduate School application
form.
Graduate School Deadlines for application are as follows:
Fall Semester: May 15
Spring Semester: October 15
The department admissions committee begins reviewing applications
for the fall semester in February each year. Applications received
by February 1 are given first consideration.
If you would like to be evaluated prior to formally applying to
graduate program, please complete and submit our Graduate
Program Applicant Evaluation form. In order to receive the most
accurate response, please complete as much information as possible.
The department reviews the record of each applicant, taking into
consideration grade-point average, undergraduate preparation, engineering
experience, recommendations, GRE scores, and any other information
which can contribute to the review. Superior applicants will be
invited to visit the Department at our expense.
Should you require further information, please see our FAQ
